The Pub is back open and serving food 12-9, they really pride themselves on fresh quality produce sourced locally and serve a great range of ales. the staff are really friendly too, nothing is too much trouble.

Odd place, Faulty Towers Service, hair, soggy rings but a well cooked steak!
It looks country bumpkin from the outside but the interior is quite modern albeit with a 1970's desert cabinet proudly displaying the can of squirty cream.
On arrival we were met with a lady who's welcome wasn't the warmest and after being asked If we had reserved, were told there was only 1 unreserved table left. It turned out here were lots of unreserved tables and the ones that were reserved still weren't occupied by the time we left.
The emergency escape door had a child seat blocking it but as that was too easily moved in an emergency, so to make escape more difficult and space on another table, a dining chair was added to the blockage. Our neighbouring table had noisy I'll tempered toddlers on it.
When ordering steak for my main course the menu said it had a choice of potato but no choice was offered by the waitress. So I prompted her and requested jacket potato. 2 minutes later the waitress returned to confirm that I had in fact asked for jacket potato ...
For starters I had calamari. I am always concerned when such a simple dish is done badly so alarm bells were ringing when the batter was soggy and greasy. I held out even less hope for my steak when my partner found a hair in their starter ....
The steak arrived and imagine my surprise to have been given chips ... Did you see that coming ...
On the up side, both steaks were cooked to perfection and the waitress was uber apologetic about the potato.
If the starters had been decent, the meal hair free and the steak had come with my choice of potato, it would have been a reasonably priced meal ... -

This self-styled "pub on the pool" is an ideal choice if you like rural pub / restaurants located in picturesque settings. The Farmers Arms is a long established business, situated opposite the Pitcott Pool in St Bride's Major. Although it's a CAMRA recommended pub, with a good selection of real ales, its main business is food, where you can eat either in its sizeable main restaurant or have a bar meal.
You'll find nothing trendy or unexpected here. The menu is broad but predictable, and when I visited for Sunday lunch its clientele were predominantly senior citizens. Unusually there is no inclusive menu, but each course was reasonably priced, with generous portions. The desserts were particularly plentiful and at £4.50 on average reasonable value for money. It also has a good fish menu, with sole and coley the highlighted daily special offerings when I visited.
The staff were very friendly and efficient, providing brisk service without making you feel hurried or harried. Overall well worth a visit. It would be an ideal place to end up after a long walk on the Southerndown coast or the Merthyr Mawr sand dunes. -

Gloopy sauce, tinned mushrooms; not very nice. Tasted like, well, gunk.
The Farmers Arms has a reputation for being a decent place to enjoy a convivial meal with friends in a reasonably relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Shame then that this experience was let down by a lacklustre initial welcome and the quality of the food served.
Though the restaurant service was attentive and the mushroom stoganough was quickly and reasonably presented, it was just unpleasant to eat, which I suppose is the key factor.
Chips were cooked nicely, crisp on outside and soft centred, but they were the usual caterers' mass produced ones (presumably bought in big bags) that taste as if they've been reconstituted and not like freshly cut chips from proper spuds.
Pudding was priced at town center restaurant prices lemon meringue roulade but looked like it had been thrown at the plate from the other side of the kitchen a real smash up. This is definitely not fine dining. Is this a pub or is it pretending to be a restaurant and doing neither very well?
The location of the pub/restaurant is good, on the road out of St Brides towards Wick just by the duck pond.
If you like traditional, low beamed rooms decorated with hanging jugs and such like, with dark red carpets and traditional dark wooden tables, then this is the place for you personally find this decor dated and gloomy.
Not great. -

A very traditonal looking pub that has good food and good ale. The perfect combination for a good quiet night out with good friends or your family. They have a wide range of meals and desserts available. The service is very good, and the staff are very friendly. They have good car parking facilities too.
